Banging my head against the wall

again out of sheer frustration.  We have, if things go according to plan,

22 days
5 hours
15 minutes

(in theory) before we are to depart post.  Only one problem:  no onward assignment.  Given how much we give to do this job (and, yes, we do get interesting life experiences in return), it doesn’t seem that hard to me to try and at least tell someone WHERE they are going so they have time to plan the trip to the airport?

We would love to spend a good portion of our Home Leave (which will already be shortened if we go to the States) on a nice family of five (gulp!) trip somewhere.  We have several ideas floating around, but who can plan when we don’t know where we are going or when we need to be there?  More to the point, we do not want to spend a good portion of our HL looking for a new place to live.

So, P. will have to take vacation time (possibly), but from what job?   My frustration is enormous and mounting.  I can’t even consider where the kids might go to school until we have a metro area and then, perhaps, a house, if we send them to a local school.  I won’t be working the first year, but would love to go back to school the second…no idea what school or where to research.

If you thought I was annoyed with the promotions process, jack that frustration up about 8 levels and add in the fact I am 36 weeks and 4 days pregnant.  And, well, please just think positive thoughts, because right now I am having a problem with that.   Now, off to distract myself and make myself feel guilty about my small problems by looking at the world news….
