We have a winner!

Yes, I have received an ‘anonymous’ email from a contestant who has hit the nail on the head.  Unfortunately, at this time, Peter no longer shows interest in either name.  However, he has agreed to reconsider and will also look at other options.  Look for a poll in the near future and, well, yes, my pick will be on it!

Caitlin has been reading a baby names book, but still has not offered anything.  Apparently, anything happening in 4th grade is far more interesting than a name that could last a lifetime.  Kelsey has not given up anything since swimsuit…still just "baby brudder".

No other news than that…is that good news?  We don’t know.  We have never been more in a state of flux and it is making me crazy (really, flux and pregnancy hormones don’t mix!).   So, maybe, maybe, maybe, next Friday will be more of a defining day regarding our future.

Not quite there yet…

Good guesses all around, but, alas, no one has hit the nail on the head (just yet).  Since I have been pleaded with by so many, I will give one more hint:

As you know, we are sticklers for following the cultural aspects of a name.  We don’t alter spellings or modernize.  Well, with one exception:  we don’t pronounce Caitlin’s exactly as it would be pronounced in the, er, homeland (many generations ago).   Kelsey’s now has an Icelandic lilt to it when spoken, but one must hear it to appreciate.

“Thinker” by Jen & Pete

Well, if you look at the picture, his head is in his hand (tilt your head a little bit).

However, really, we are still just calling him Junior, as Peter and I have:

A.  Only thought of one (viable) name each.  Peter has had quite a few, but only one has made it to the drawing board.
B.  We can’t agree on the other’s choice.

A friend from the Embassy has taken to calling him "Peanut" but not sure how that will go over with the birth certificate folks.  So, we are currently duking it out to no resolution (as of yet).  Caitlin and Kelsey have been extremely helpful by not contributing anything…oh, no, wait, Kelsey suggested "Swimsuit"..no joke:  Swimsuit Dinoia..

So, challenge of the day:  what are the names we are arguing over?  Here is a hint:
The name I have chosen is only ONE letter different from the name Peter has chosen.  Yet, the two names seem to sound (to us) very different when spoken.  I have taken my own poll and thus have two votes in favor of my name (okay, I have only told one person)…

And, no, one name is not a nickname for the other.  If you guess the names, what do you win?  All the Skyr you can eat when you visit!

Now, for your viewing pleasure…

The Golden Circle Tour

Family Portrait

Familyby Kelsey D.

Well, we didn’t have a chance to have a family portrait taken while on vacation, much to Peter’s chagrin………………………NOT!  We decided it would be much more interesting to have a cool (translation: extraordinarily expensive) Icelandic family portrait (hopefully with scenery) taken since we will be leaving 9 months from tomorrow (give or take).

So, Kelsey opted to draw a temporary fun family portrait.  She included all human family members, present and future.  Future?  Yes, future!  The little figure second from the left represents her baby BROTHER (!) due on February 9, 2008.

Excited much?  But of course! Despite a few kinks in the beginning, all seems to be working out well now.  We had hoped to have a decent ultrasound by this time, but I just missed the cut-off due to my "North American Toilet Tour" or the real reason I didn’t blog much this summer.

I tried, I really did, but sometimes just looking at the computer made me ill.  Words dancing across the screen, odd food smells, weird outdoor odors, driving myself anywhere, someone else driving…all had the same effect.

Now, after many tests, doctor visits and all the other fun duties that go along with pregnancy, I am basking in the not-quite-so-sickness of the second trimester.  I have two weeks to go until my halfway mark, but due to the weight loss over the past year (just in time!), I still have a bit of time before I look, um, not so svelte.

So, check back late in the day on September 24 and hopefully, we will have a more defined photo of Junior. Now, your job…we need name suggestions or it will be Tiberius Benedict (not that there is anything wrong with that…).
